Posture and Movement through conscious control
The ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE will improve posture, relief neck, head and back pain through conscious control. The technique will enable change, changing habits to effortless movement and better coordination, breathing and vitality. Practicing the Alexander Technique is the way to shed off habits which undermine the way to positive change. Many of our habits come from the past, are limiting, can be negative also. As an example: I tense up and contract the muscles when facing a difficulty, whether physical or mental, and find it difficult to breath.
I could react differently: I could inhibit my desire to overcome the difficulty. I could first let myself breath and get organized. Or else, I throw my head back when bending down, and this causes pressure on the spine and the vertebras. I could react differently: I could inhibit the habit of bending down without conscious control, and let the head lead forward and up, above the spine, so that spine is free to move with ease. In the Alexander lesson we learn how to achieve this change and apply these directions. We can choose to change back pain to an elongated spine, to change stress to freedom and effortless movement. You will find this technique can be the answer to a wide spectrum of difficulties, to movement without effort, and to activity being controlled by consciousness.
There is a relationship between neck, head and back which we will learn in the lesson. The neck is a junction between the torso and the head. The head will always lead forward and will be above the spine. The back – will be long, and wide. (as opposed to being “straight” and) will learn these directions from the teacher's hands and manipulation.
Come and experience the right way to direct yourself, to be a master of yourself, not being led by habit, by the past, but to experience a new way. When you will have a few lessons, you will decide whether to choose the correct use of the self.
